Obtaining News Off The Internet

How many people read the daily newspaper first thing in the morning? I would venture to guess a substantial number of you. I too am no different; I try to read the news on the internet upon first arriving at work prior to anything else. I am fond of keeping abreast of the going on not just in the United States but also the world. Many times writers pass by one of the most significant methods of acquiring story idea that there is - News. The news represents a fresh daily source of some noble inspirations relating to story ideas. Nothing beats reality.

Of course, in view of the fact that we are talking creative writing here, we naturally desire an stimulating and inimitable tale to communicate. In that sense, we wish to spice up the anecdote considerably. Using our usual arsenal of verbs and adjectives skillfully developed within the story context will furnish you an appealing read.

I try to make notes regarding attention-grabbing news articles of which I may come across being sure to save them for possible future development into a short story. When I am reading the news on my computer, it becomes even easier to craft notes, as I don't have to physically write a single word. I merely save the particular article or I will create a short cut leading to it. I prefer to save it on my computer as a great deal of the news on the internet is fleeting in nature. Its here one day and departed the following.

An example of this concept of obtaining ideas from news is prevalent within a recent anecdote I wrote entitled "World Traveler Mr. Whiskers at your Service". This story is based upon a real life drama I discovered in the newspaper. A kitten had playfully hidden inside a businessman's suitcase and the suitcase ended up getting mixed up with someone else's at the airport. Eventually the kitten was returned to its home. With the proper modification applied to this real life tale, I created a reasonable interesting human nature story.

Another situation where I applied the same technique was while reading the news I read a tidbit on how current historians now believe that the Mayans sacrificed boys in place of the previously thought virgin girls. I saved the information and eventually developed it into a story entitled, "But they sacrifice young boys Dad, I want to go home".

The procedure is fun and easy while keeping in mind you are reading the news anyway so why not make it work for you.
